Santiago League Round 9: CDP gets another victory

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Leader CDP delivered the fifth win on Sunday night. This time they beat bottom-ranked Sameji (0-6) 115-98 in Santiago. CDP dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Sameji's 54. They outrebounded Sameji 48-35 including 34 on the defensive glass. CDP looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when CDP made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was guard Rigoberto Mendoza (187-92, agency: BMS Sport Agency) who scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. American Paris Bass (203-95, college: Detroit) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Brahian Mendez who recorded 20 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CDP maintains first place with 5-1 record, which they share with Cupes. Sameji at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost.

In the last game of round 9 Plaza was defeated by Cupes 98-87.

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Plaza (1-5) was defeated by second ranked Cupes (5-1) 98-87 on Sunday. Cupes looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Jaison Valdez (188-95, agency: BMS Sport Agency) who scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Luis Santos (203-94, college: St.Louis) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Oliver Garcia (188-96) who recorded 23 points and 7 assists and naturalized Spanish forward Edward Santana (203-80) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Four Cupes and five Plaza players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cupes keep a position of league leader, which they share with CDP. Plaza lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with five games lost.
